Today Armenian businessmen participated in the seminar entitled "Trade Frameworks with EU" organised by AEPLAC, Armenia’s Ministry of Economy, and EU Consulting Group.
The seminar has a chief objective to introduce new trade opportunities in the framework of the Eastern Partnership and to fill the informational gap in this field.
Armenian businessmen haven’t enough information on trade process, running trade regimes and so on, he pointed.
The European Union in the framework of the Eastern Partnership provides deep and comprehensive free trade agreements with those countries willing and able to enter into a deeper engagement, gradual integration in the EU economy and allow for easier travel to the EU through gradual visa liberalisation, accompanied by measures to tackle illegal immigration.

106 AUDITORS HAVE QUALIFICATION CERTIFICATES IN ARMENIA AS OF NOVEMBER 17

RA Ministry of Finance conducted 6 qualifying examinations for auditors in 2009, as a result of which 2 applicants received an auditor’s qualification certificate. By the decision of the commission on qualification of auditors, qualification certificates were also given to the applicants qualified by member organizations of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) - based on the documents submitted by them.
NT was informed by the Information and PR Unit of the RA Ministry of Finance that 106 auditors had a qualification certificate in Armenia as of November 17.

ARMENIA’S CORRUPTION RATE WENT DOWN

Armenia ranks the 125th among 180 states in the annual global corruption report. According to the Global Corruption Report 2009 of Transparency International, Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) ranks countries in terms of the degree to which businesspeople and country analysts perceive corruption to exist among public officials and politicians.
The countries were assessed on a scale from 1-to 10, the calculations were conducted by three international organizations of the examined states. According to Transparency International, Armenian office Chairwoman Amalia Kostanyan, last year Armenia took the 114th place in the rating. She considers that this fact is induced not by system changes, but events that impact people’s mentality and therefore public opinion.
Transparency International Executive Director Varuzhan Hoktanyan said : "As compared to the last year, Armenia’s index reduced by 0.2 point, making 2.7 points. The same tendency was registered in Azerbaijan and Georgia, however the most dramatic reduction was fixed in Iran."
The lowest indexes-1.1 testifying the high corruption rate are registered in Somali, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Sudan and Iraq, while the highest index 9.4- in New Zealand, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland and Singapore.
